                                                                     Whooper Swans.


                                 Greylag Geese are usually fairly scarce at Donna Nook.


      Birds on the frozen and snowy southern fields included 55 Whooper Swans, 13 Mute Swans, 350 Brent Geese, a Greylag Goose, Little Egret, 800 Wood Pigeons, 25 Curlews, 240 Lapwings, 350 Golden Plovers, 160 Skylarks and a Common Buzzard.   On the restricted open water of the flashes were 12 Little Grebes, 20 Mallard and 42 Teal.   A Water Rail, 3 Rock Pipits and a Water Pipit were nearby and a further 24 Rock Pipits and 32 Snow Buntings were on the outmarsh.
