Birds on the southern fields this morning included 52 Whooper Swans, 14 Mute Swans, 350 Golden Plovers, 250 Lapwings, 3 Curlews, Grey Heron and Common Buzzard. On the flashes were 69 Teal, 27 Mallard, Greylag Goose, 4 Coots, 8 Little Grebes, Little Egret and 3 Redshanks. The hard frost resulted in a few thrushes appearing along the sea-bank, hence 11 Song Thrushes, 5 Blackbirds and a Fieldfare. Also here were 24 Reed Buntings, 9 Yellowhammers and 5 Linnets. A Collared Dove and 2 Rock Pipits on the beach and a Peregrine harrying 500 Knot without success over the open shore. 300 Brent Geese flew south.
